Antique grandfather (longcase) clock specialist, David Gibson, has been buying and selling clocks since 1973.
West Country
Grandfather clock, fine London longcase clock or even American tallcase clocks, whatever you call them, we specialise in carefully
selected genuine examples made between the years 1680 and 1830 together with bracket clocks and early watches of the same period. We
like clocks that tell a real story, have real merit and are a cut above the average.
Located on the Devon/Dorset/Somerset
border Axminster is a busy and thriving market town with easy access by train, road or air (Exeter Airport). View our links
page for some of ideas of places to visit while you are in the area.
Open by appointment 7 days a week. If you are unable
to visit us, we are able to supply high definition photographs and comprehensive descriptions to help you make your choice.
You
will find that our antique clocks are fully described in a non-technical manner by David Gibson, or occasionally by an accredited
expert, museum curator, etc. You can comfortably rely on these descriptions. David's specialist knowledge has over the
years been keenly sought by publishers and broadcast media and he has appeared on the popular BBC TV programmes "Antiques Roadshow"
and "Going for a Song".
All clocks are offered for sale with 12 months guarantee, delivery is included free of charge (mainland
England and Wales), insurance valuation and tutorial for looking after your clock (if required) - no obligation! Overseas customers
are also well-catered for. We have packing and shipping arrangements with a local company at very competitive rates.
Realistically
it is unlikely that any longcase clock has survived upto 300 years of domestic life without some restoration. It is reasonable
to assume that most of our antique longcase clocks have restored feet and finials unless otherwise stated. However, all of our
antique clocks can be supplied with detailed descriptions and condition reports. Each clock is sympathetically restored by our
small team of skilled artisans. Each clock is immaculately presented in full working condition, with a full mechanical guarantee.
